I’d say there is an important distinction to make: a car that you can hand down is not necessarily one you would want to hand down. Sometimes a car is both, sometimes a car has one quality, but excludes the other. The reasons for sorting the cars will likely be just as intrinsic (to the car) as they are extrinsic.
