Yeah that was my guess at what they meant as well. I’d call that a modest effect, but it definitely sounds worth it.

So, I’ve got about 40% of my head wrapped around how this works, but one question...
These two lines seem potentially contradictory to me:
“With enough wind propulsion, ships can ease up on their engines, saving fuel. Ideally, the engines could be turned off entirely.”
It’s so terrible, in fact, that I wonder if that’s the joke. But I’m not remotely sure!
Awesome, thanks.
UNACCEPTABLE.
I’ve obviously never had Hibiki 30, but the younger varieties are delightful. No vandalizing palates!
So, I have the same question as Elmer below, but...less like a dick about it.
I’m quite curious how this is “confidential”.
Can the recipient forward/print/screenshot the email?
You’re a real bootlicking piece of shit, aintcha?
Do not answer.
My condolences to you. Developing a worldview of scientific skepticism over the past several years has taught me one lesson over and over again - different details, different stories, all variations on the same theme:
I’m not special. My brain isn’t special. It can fuck up in all of the same ways as anyone else’s, by…
I had never even heard of this dish until Din Tai Fung came to Seattle.
I had several painful visits before I got the hang of it. They are seriously delicious though. And I’m 100% with you on the mouth-detonation.
Yeah, it’s baffling to me as well. I should think that “operating as a top-to-bottom criminal enterprise” would result in a lifetime ban for most people.
Honestly, I don’t know how practical this design is when I picture the realities of people loading in and out, getting in and out of them in-flight to go to the lavatory, etc., but I dig the concept. I also think people with mobility problems could have as much difficulty getting into the lower level as the upper. But …
Or Hard Candy.
Yamazaki 12 is pretty great.
Hibiki is delightful as well.
But yeah, this was something to get interested in several years ago. Too pricy now.
Nice catch. I remembered having heard that once you pointed it out, but it didn’t stand out to me at the time (maybe because the cabbie kinda mutters it while the focus is outside the cab at the compromised motel).
*deep sigh* So, Milkshake Duck is racist?
This was a fascinating article - I read the whole thing, and I thank you for writing it. This is definitely an area that is much more complicated than I ever knew.
That said, I have a question about this line...
John Locke disagrees!
But, ya know, he’s dead.
Ah, interesting. Missed that detail.
Well...I didn’t say it’d be easy. But surely having it is better than not having it :) And your fountain of youth metaphor doesn’t really work here. An enemy that wants to kill you with chemical weapons is highly motivated to make their weapons work better.
Of course, there’s one massive and crucial caveat to make when discussing Breakfast At Tiffany’s, which is that it contains one of the most offensive depictions of an Asian character ever captured on screen.
I adore this film, but it’s got a big ol’ asterisk on it for that reason.
