There really was no button mashing in DA2. The combat was set up similarly to DA:O (although, I think the cool downs and timings of when moves fired was slightly different), it's just that everything happened so much faster that lots of people didn't seem to realize that it was still real time with pause, just like

That's why you should play the Geneforge games. It has 2 warring factions that are slightly similar to DA's, but rather than making you choose one or the other it gives you like 5 other options to pick from.

Eh. I would love it if it was that game. But I think many of its defenders praise what it was trying to do, rather than what it actually accomplished. The truth is, Hawke's family was boring, he's not an especially interesting character, and while the game is ostensibly about seeing how your choices play out in

This. I like Lynch and I love Dune (the novel), but I don't think the two make a good combination. The result is just a dull, ugly, film.

This is probably the highest profile role any of the Harry Potter kids have gotten post Harry Potter, though.

I actively disliked the first season, but the second was really good. So this is disappointing.

Nah, I think he's actually pretty selective. I doubt Steve Brule is something he's doing because it's massively profitable.

"Nonetheless, this is arguably Fassbinder’s first film to take full advantage of cinema’s unique qualities—so much so, in fact, that it’s sometimes difficult to imagine how it could have worked onstage. "

Her defense was idiotic. She arguably could have gotten off if she tried to argue that the film had some sort of educational merit to it. Claiming she didn't know what the film was about, after showing it 5 times, however, wasn't too bright.

I just discovered "Cerulean Salt" a month ago and have been listening to it constantly. It's very '90s, in a good way. Like, it could have been a Kim Deal, Breeders side project.

Most 4 years old boys would love to stomp around in their mom's high heels if given the chance. I think the appeal is more the novelty of walking around on stilts than anything else.

Yes. Shoshan Felman's essay on it in her book "Writing and Madness" is maybe my favorite piece of literary criticism ever.

This will only be great if it has a photo of Jewel's head within a cut out circle like all the old VC Andrews books used to have.

No, in the show's universe, Patsy is 7-9 years older than Edina. In the Birthday episode (season 1), Edina turns 40, while in episode 1 of season 2, the newspapers identify Patsy as being 47 and 49, alternately (which would put her in line with Lumley's age, as Lumley was 47 when she filmed that episode).

I just watched the first season again for the first time in a decade, and I think it holds up really well. The core relationship between Edina and Patsy has always been the show's strength, and the first season had that in spades.

Patron Saint of failing upward describes Donald Trump pretty well too. He's never been a great businessman, but he was born into money and was smart enough to become a loathesome reality show host once he failed at everything else.

I tried watching this merely because it's been all over the front page. I wasn't interested enough to watch beyond the first episode. Judging from the pilot, it's very much a B- type of show, in that it's not awful, but not especially compelling either.

I loved the 1st, hated the 2nd film, but the 3rd is fun. It doesn't have much to do with the first 2 in plot or style, which is maybe it's best feature.

I've always thought Gillian Anderson has way more talent than has ever been recognized. She was great in "The House of Mirth" and all the made for BBC productions she's had over the years. I had no idea she was being considered for ghost busters, but that's a bit of stunt casting I can get behind.

I agree. The first season was just too cruel. So it was great to see season 2 end on an up note. The ending was so perfect I really don't want to see Valerie drug through the mud in a 3rd season.
