Fincher is grossly overrated. A new PTA film is a pretty big get, though.

I ardently defend Tideland has his best film. So underrated.
Gilliam's my favorite character precisely because after the second season she didn't need to be on this show anymore. This show is so tastefully mediocre and predictable most of the time, I welcome the fact that one of the characters is kind of a storyline wildcard who they can basically do anything with. I like…
Apparently on Deadwood they rarely washed costumes so everyone stunk and was actually filthy, as opposed to the filth being meticulously art designed.
Yeah, I've been defending this show all season, but the musical score was just too fucking heavy handed this time. And they went back to the well of the piano theme song for dramatic moments over and over and over.
Yeah. Although your mileage will vary depending on how much you like Aerial. I liked it a lot, but I know a lot of her fans hate it.
A new family video just appeared in my town. I was delighted as you just can't find foreign films at red box. They don't have porn, though, so I'm pretty sure porn isn't the secret to their success. I think it's more that they were small enough to survive the great video store holocaust of the early 2000s and are…
I've always suspected he was deliberately trying to copy the success of "Everything I Do" from the Robin Hood soundtrack. The songs are so willfully generic that you start to suspect they were written by smart people deliberately trying to be dumb just to make shitloads of money.
Yeah, penultimate episode is the only time to do an episode like this, I think. It's a palate cleanser after last week's ending and before the finale.
Been listening to Owl John. Feels like a Frightened Rabbit album, only more half assed. Which is just about right, I guess. Like, that's about what you would expect from an album recorded in 2 weeks.
His Human Giant short was great, although he was basically playing an exaggerated Gob (if it's possible to exaggerate Gob even more):
Razor is awesome. Plan is horrible and totally skippable. It adds nothing to the series, just rehashes stuff we already know.
Best not to start from the beginning, though. People should start with season 2, then go back to season 1 after a while. Its first few episodes weren't very good, but it got better.
Archers well into its decline period. Last season did nothing for me. They seem to think that people shouting in annoying voices and cocaine are endlessly hilarious.
This made me check and see if "Life and Times of Tim" was back on HBOGO yet. Not yet.
I had a whole course on Almodovar in college. This is actually one of his least graphic films from the 80s. The NC-17 is kind of puzzling.
But holy shit was it annoying after hearing it 20 times. I remember we went on a field trip in 5th grade and some kids had the cassingle, and they played it on a boom box over and over and over.
Also, the daughter let the dog go because she was convinced it wasn't able to be rehabilitated. That's why she cried when she found the gun too. The fact that her dad's girlfriend lost her whole family, yet was able to claim that she no longer needed the gun because she was fine now, gave the daughter some secret…
I suspect Patti and the Gun toting Dog guy set the whole thing up to try to get Kevin to break. As he was leaving, he said, "Oh shut up, I tried." I think that was directed at Patti, not Kevin.
I've also always assumed that the cult was kind of like a nihilistic brand of "attachment is suffering." That's kind of their schtick, what with the disavowing of family and the discrediting of life and health (via the constant smoking). That's not Buddhism per se, though, which is why I add the "nihilistic"…
