I was not a fan of those films but I loved this. I found her older work pretentious and boring, while this is sharp and heartfelt.

Saw this on Saturday and loved it. The two women leads are wonderful, and it captures something so truthful about strained relationships between mothers and teen daughters. A real gem.

Agree. I can’t even put my finger on exactly why but it felt like a letdown, like they were going through the motions or something but the emotional believability just wasn’t there. It was entertaining enough but unlike the romance and sex of earlier seasons, it just felt flat to me.

This is a good review - there was a lot of wish fulfillment (ahem) in this episode to enjoy but parts of it were poorly handled too. The script was really woeful, riddled with awful cliches and featuring such big jumps in places - how could Jamie not ask at least a couple more questions about Brianna? Why didn’t he

Yep it’s especially unbelievable that Jamie has aged 20 years since Culloden - time he has been living in a cave/17th century prison, or working outdoors. Pretty sure back then he’d be down a few teeth and looking like a contemporary 60-something year old by now.

It’s not a common menu item, though we do have KFC of course. IF your small town didn’t have have a KFC it’s totally plausible you would never come across it.

The winner gave a good response too to a question about the Paris Climate Agreement, saying it was wrong for the US to have pulled out given the evidence we have about climate change.

There would have been so many to do it though without breaking her no-nude clause, plenty of non-HBO shows manage to depict romance/love/sex without showing bare breasts.

Yes totally. I’ve been watching some of the early seasons and the dialogue is so tight, even in scenes where seemingly nothing major is happening. The dialogue was woeful this season - either there to just move the plot along (“hey I cant have any more kids, in case you didn’t hear me the first five times”) or just

This episode was a mess. The best scenes were in Winterfell, with Arya and Sansa consolidating their relationship and finally getting rid of Littlefinger. His death brought a nice end to the part of the show that was simply about politics and schemes, and set the stage for the war to come.

Yep - many of the better, more romantics pairings on this show have been characters who were allowed to spend a bit more time together, have a bit of banter or warm conversation (Jon/Ygritte, Robb/Talisa, Tyrion/Shae). These two have only had somber, serious strategy conversations in service of moving their plots

Right? Of course a couple of them are going to die in this ridiculous mission, and it’s not a group with a lot of men to lose. I’m guessing Jon, Jorah and Gendry are all safe, but we will lose at least one from the Brotherhood and maybe Tormund too, just because they’re slightly more expendable at this point. Which is

Yes to all of this. Such a shame after a relatively strong episode the week before (the implausibility of the Dothraki just sneaking into Westeros unseen aside). This one was so chock full of plot there was no time to absorb anything, and so many of the plot points made little sense.

This show was royally dullsville, whether focusing on Elizabeth or Margaret. I really didn’t get the hype - yes the costumes and sets were lovely, and the acting is great, but there was just so little plot, drama or dialogue to keep it moving.

Talenti is soooo good. Their coconut gelato is to die for.

Yeah their relationship rubbed me the wrong way the whole time and it annoyed me we were supposed to be invested enough in it for it to carry the drama of the last few eps.

(Spoiler alert) Yes exactly. I found the romantic plot between Dev and Francesca the weakest link of the show, which was a bummer, given how pivotal it became. She just never felt real - like a male fantasy, a compendium of Italian film characters of the 1970s with impossible beauty, expensive fashion and no real life

This song kills me every damn time. I was a mess in the theatre when I saw it performed for the first time.

I thought that was deliberate? She referenced “leaving all her family behind” or something in one of her intense talks with Perry and I just assumed she was Australian expat in America.

Do you have low blood pressure? I was waking up feeling a bit shakey and sketchy for a while which felt like anxiety to me and eventually saw a doctor. She told me I had orthostatic hypertension, which is low blood pressure, which actually drops when you go from sitting (or lying down) to standing - hence, feeling
