I would have rather paid $10 to see the dry erase board than the movie.

As well documented by Jalopnik and other media, Greg Kelly’s treatment by Japan’s system is a travesty. He was arrested on trumped up charges as he unwittingly became part of a power play for control of Nissan, subjected to harsh treatment including solitary confinement and has been denied a trial date for over 15

Best wishes on your next adventures! Sad to see the end of an era.

Nice comparison and excellent pics! The bordello red shag carpet in the XK140 is a sight to behold.  Austin Powers would be proud to use it as his daily.

Understand the sentiment, but the logic is flawed a bit. It is like saying it’s OK if brakes stop vehicles most of the time as they sometimes work as designed. The occasional run-in to a brick wall is OK in balance.

Takata sold their soul to the OEMs (led by our buddies at GM) who were driving for dirt cheap safety devices. You couldn’t buy a decent pair of jeans for the prices the OEMs wanted to pay. When Takata turned to ammonium nitrate, the pressure on other airbag makers was tremendous to follow suit and those that did not

Good catch on the distinction between arrest warrant and request to “...locate and provisionally arrest,” for the Red Notice. Sure, Lebanon will go through some pseudo-legal motions for outward appearance, but Ghosn is safely ensconced in a country where some see him as a hero.

I wonder what effect if any this will have on Greg Kelly’s situation as he is still awaiting a trial date.

Anecdotal evidence and common sense is all one needs to understand the safety risk.  I am not a big fan of Cuomo, but he got it right this time.

Hydrogen had promise until the 2008 downturn - afterwards too much attention and resources have gone into illusive autonomous driving. Honda was developing home-production hydrogen for fuel cells that could power your car and house. I surmise the Honda FCV project is barely kept on life support now while they burn

Thanks for keeping this story alive and reminding us of the toll at the individual, human level. As you point out, this is far from over. There will be subsequent recalls due to this for years to come as the OEMs hold back on action until a death triggers their limited reaction for particular models.

2nd: “In April, it embarked on a wide-ranging turnaround plan to revive sales and boost profits but the business outlook has worsened more than anticipated, the sources said.”

Amazing travesty of justice. Ghosn and Kelly still wait in Tokyo under what is basically house arrest for a year now without a court date for an alleged compensation scheme while Takata execs walk free. Oh wait...Ghosn was able to finally have a Skype call with his wife for the first time in eight months. That’s fair.

Strange to see a Norwegian flag by his name.  I thought he was a Swede...

Start turning around Nissan by axing Saikawa and his cronies. He was Ghosn’s protege and appears to have no tricks up his sleeve after turning on his old boss. Nissan needs someone to make the tough decisions that surround streamlining the entire company, concentrating remaining resources on reviving a few key models,
