280 in the SF bay area moves at 85mph for majority of the day... even the slow lane usually moves north of 70.

Probably had no time. In my current long road trips over the least 3 years, the average speed is now 80mph and 90mph is very, very common.

Rich parents who are more worried about their jobs/lifestyle than raising their kids.

My first car was an 84 Honda Civic wagon. Handed down twice with a top speed of 75 mph. As a young driver, you aren’t suddenly a good driver. You are still learning to drive. It takes time to build up experience.

Was thinking the same thing! (But couldn’t get a good enough look to be 100% sure it was a Z4.) Awesome confluence of BMW behaviours, but would have been more believable if Z4 driver had found a way to hit the cop again.
