I would really like to see Mann try to explain to Fincher why the look of Zodiac or Gone Girl will be subpar to his BBC shitshow movie.

Or even Soderbergh who shoots everything digital now. Too bad Damon couldn't invite him over from The Knick set to school Mr. Fuckstick.

And we barely have one Bob LaMonta biopic.

They came up together through Groundlings.

If I recall, him and Walken are the only two not to break during the cowbell sketch. Parnell didn't have any "funny" lines, but he holds the sketch together.

That's a great moment. Also his final line is perfect too. "Young..I feel young." Man, I want to watch Wrath of Khan right now.

I replay this episode more than a few times too and I crack up every time Steve tears down Oxley's summation that the creatures are not aliens, but "interdimensional beings point of fact." In between the rant ("Where did you get interdimensional from? A coloring book?") he raises a good question on why

"Oh..fuck my cock" The best line reading Pierce will ever give.

I consider myself fortunate to have been able to discover this on VHS back in 97. My friends and I would quote the movie and wonder where this guy Wes Anderson came from. I definitely looked forward to his follow up with Bill Murray. I feel a lot of people dismiss the movie because they've seen it after Rushmore and

My reaction to Winter Soldier is similar to Elaine Benes with The English Patient. I think the love for the movie goes too far when people try to place it on the same level as The Parallax View or 3 Days of the Condor. By the numbers is right.

The toughest decision on what to watch on TV was back in 2000. Had to choose between the CBS Live Production of Fail Safe with George Clooney, Harvey Keitel, Richard Dreyfuss or the penultimate episode of Sopranos Season 2. I ended up going with Fail Safe and it didn't disappoint, but that Sopranos episode really

I believe Pauline Kael referred to Coppola in her review of The Rain People as "that disgusting dago" and pleaded with studios to give him "a pot of spaghetti instead of a camera."

That's funny. I didn't hear about that one. Didn't think Mann would tolerate his antics. I heard Mann could direct unpleasantness towards crew members if they didn't step to it.

I love that bit of business from DeNiro.

I think back to the scene Haysbert and his partner/wife have at the bar. Haysbert's obviously recovering from a demoralizing day at work and the wife tries her best to support him, and remind him he's more than a rap sheet. It's devastating because Haysbert feels so defeated,(understandably so)he can't believe life

What have you read concerning Kilmer behind the scenes on Heat? Not doubting you. I never heard about him acting up on this particular film. The stories about Kilmer acting out on Batman Forever and Island of Dr. Moreau are well known, so it's not a surprise. I can't imagine a guy like Mann would put up with those

Kevin Gage

Great story behind Voight's casting. Voight initially didn't want to do it and suggested Mann could find actors more age appropriate. Mann's reply "But we wouldn't work together on this?" convinced him to sign on.

That's the only thing I really remember from that movie. His death's the type you reserve for the heavy. John Doe in Seven had a more dignified exit than Schiff. Spielberg was on auto pilot.
