The cocktail actually calls for cream of coconut, which is a sweet syrup. It's made with coconut milk.

Trader Vic didn’t make the original Mai Tai in a blender. It was a standard shaken cocktail.

If it used Myers rum it probably wasn’t that great. :)

Uh, sorry, a ‘cassic’ daquiri would be this recipe without the pineapple. Rum, lime, sugar is the standard, and still one of the best cocktails in the world.

Yeah that doesn’t make any sense. You can shake in any direction you want, but you do want to make sure the ice is going all the way back and forth in the tin for maximum aeration.

Ditto the edit - a dry shake is the most important step here

A shaken cocktail will almost always be colder than a stirred one. So really that ‘personal preference’ comes down to how cold you want the drink.

Excellent drink! Though it should be Cream of Coconut, not coconut cream in the recipe. There are pre-made brands available (Coco Lopez, Coco Reàl) but they’re artificial and terrible. You can make your own by heating coconut milk and sugar together (equal parts), just like simple syrup, and straining through

I feel like most of these are things that nearly ANY kind of salt can do. The only thing that’s distinct about table salt is that it’s iodized to prevent goiter.

BoTW and HZD came out around the same time (within a week or two of each other, I think), and I played both. I was frankly astounded how much love BoTW was getting over HZD at the time. Make no mistake, BoTW is a fantastic game, and was much more of a revelation as to what kind of games you could play on the Switch.

Yes. I was in much the same boat, tired of open-world, “stuff on a map” games, and only mildly interested by HZD when it came out. Robot dinosaurs seemed cool, but, you know, meh. Then I received a copy as a gift, gave it a whirl, and... wow. Yes, it’sanother open-world game’, but everything’s so well done, it was

“Present.”

Before I made these, I would agree. Try before you judge. :)

Again, nobody requested this, but pancake-doubters, give this a whirl:

No one asked, but waffle-doubters, give this a try:

But it’s not... it’s easy to make a shitty waffle, too.

I’m sorry to say you have never had a good waffle. This is only true about bad waffles made from a mix (or worse, an adjustment to a pancake mix).

I think it’s not that pancakes are harder to make, but that it’s easier to make a bad pancake. With a good recipe they’re very simple to whip up.

Make waffles from a pancake mix (just add oil!) and you can enjoy a truly terrible waffle.

Whipped egg whites typically represent a classic Belgian-style waffle. Not all waffles are (or need to be) made this way. And a waffle is a ridiculous use for vanilla sugar, which is mostly intended as a finishing sugar. In a batter, regular sugar and vanilla extract do the exact same thing (and are easier to find).
