I'm with you on this one, Doug. I love my VW TDI JSW. I went out of my way (and drove nearly two hours each way) to buy a 6MT version of the JSW with the options I wanted. I get made fun of, but I don't care. I'd add that wagons are awesome because most look great lowered (mine isn't yet).

Stick to the cars, dude.

I like this one

oh wow. I was really hoping that the IDx would make it to market.

Are you new here, or just trolling?

It's better looking, for sure. However, to me, 42 MPG isn't all that impressive. Yeah, it's good, but sheesh, my TDI (+1 jalopoint) does that without a hybrid system. Plus mine is a wagon (+1 jalopoint) and a manual (+1 jalopoint).

1. Henry Leland would probably be rolling over in his grave if he could see the current state of Lincoln.

Interesting. I'd not heard of this, maybe because of where I grew up. I'll have to do some more reading.

Jeez, bags front and rear?!?

I've been looking to replace my 99 F-350 and truck camper, but I can't even imagine how much that setup was. Probably the better part of $300k, at least!

I did see these cars in their era, my aunt had one and an Accord of a later vintage. I bought a '79 Civic CVCC for $50 in 1988 - it went down the road faithfully for four years, until I sold it before I left for boot camp.

Thats my point. Any car without rust-proofing, well, rusts. I may have misread you comment.

As will all other cars that don't have undercoating or rust protection - what's your point?

To me, all the "I'd never buy a Honda, but..." or "I'm a not a Honda fan, but..." comments are funny. Why do so many in the geardhead community dismiss Japanese cars from classic car discussions?

oh no!

Let's see, Audi RS6 Avant. AWD, wagon, fast.

Ok, see your point, but how do you account for the difference in the current average age of vehicles on the road (11.4) versus the average age in 1970 (just under 6) or in 1995 (about 8.5)?

"You know, this all reminds me of something McLaren F1 designer Gordon Murray said recently— that light weight, not insane horsepower, was the next great frontier for automotive evolution."

I'd hoon it.

Well, let's figure what it isn't. I'll bet dollars to donuts that it isn't a VW because 1. License plate state and 2. The fuel door is on the wrong side.
