One other problem (not with Firefox, but with an addon) is that there are problems, even with compatibility checking off, with the "Fast Dial" addon. If you run it, you lose the blank/yellow star on the Awesome Bar unless you click on the little icon to the left of the current site in the navigation bar. Since I use…
I'm liking the new beta, with my only complaint being the loss of the "new tab" button to put on the menu bar. I really miss that one, and can't imagine why they got rid of it. It could certainly be left off by default if that is what they wanted, but why remove it completely? I know there are keyboard shortcuts and…
It installed in about 15 minutes without a hitch and everything seems to be working fine. I don't use the Windows Sidebar, my main computer is hardwired and my laptop is XP so I can't test the Wireless improvements, and don't have a bluetooth device, so why did I install this again? ;-)
Thanks for keeping us up to date on Windows 7 Lifehacker. I for one appreciate it. I think the OS that powers 89.62% of the PC's in the world is worth talking about when a major new version is in the works.
GMail Notifier for Firefox. I'm in my browser so much I don't need anything else.
I never say never, but I can't see waiting months and years for Chrome to "catch up" to Firefox and then switch. Why should I? By then we will be on Firefox 4, and Chrome can spend another year "catching up". Who knows, Chrome may catch up and speed by Firefox with some new killer features we can't envision today,…
I don't use them and just barely notice them. TechCrunch is off on one of their rants about this feature and how you can't "opt out" of it, but really, two tiny little 3X3 pixel icons next to your search result which can easily be ignored? So what?
I don't use them for backups any more, as they are just to unstable and I don't trust the shelf life of them very much. I use a second hard drive and Acronis for backing up. They are however very useful for "archiving" tv shows and movies and such that I download, and I do use them to make a backup copy of games…
Sorry, but this is a horrible program for most folks. I don't recommend that anyone who has already done any tweaking of their interface, folder layouts, etc touch this.
Oh my... 15meg of memory out of the box, and it has to run in the background in Windows (not just as a plugin / addon for firefox).
@Deoki:
Avast just goes non-linear with this program. It might be a false positive, but I certainly would not recommend this until the author sorts out why many anti-virus programs flag this a a virus and fixes it.
@AlanR:
So a quick test...
