I also lean toward a minimalistic desktop. I long ago replaced all desktop icons with an ObjectDock toolbar that has icons which point to start menu folders with categories of applications. So I have an icon for:
Very cool... There are some things that you might want to run in the background (like a remote desktop program or a network traffic monitor) and being able to run them without having them clutter up the task bar (or having them accidentally shut down) is nice. This is a good little addition to the toolkit...
VOTE: Windows Vista Firewall combined with wireless router internal firewall.
I just looked at Pxel Pick, and it's not bad. I still like TrayColor from Proxy Systems though. You might give it a shot. Almost no memory, no install needed, puts the result in a text field so you can copy and paste where you need it. Gives you HTML, DEC, HEX and RGB. Direct link to file here:
I have been using this for years. It is free, magnifies the pixels so you can hit just the right one, and gives you the codes for the color in HTML, DEC, HEX etc.
I quickly tire of any site where I have to watch a 10-30 second commercial before I can see a 2 minute video. The "advertising to content" ratio on many sites is practically one to one, which puts even network TV to shame. If I click on a video and it says "your video will start right after this commercial message",…

Excellent... I was beginning to think that the author was losing interest in this incredibly popular addon.
* I actually didn't mean it should have "more missing functionality"... ;-)
Very nice article. I do like the look and feel of Chrome, but of course can't think of switching until it has a lot more missing functionality and supports addons.
It may also be from force of habit, but I like mine at the bottom with auto-hide turned on. I keep my ObjectDock iconbar just above it at the bottom, and it seems to work fine for me.
You want to save your music as "artist - album - track # - title.mp3" or some variant of that. The track # is important so that the songs on your hard drive (or device) sort by how the tracks were laid out on the album. Do you really want to listen to The Eagles "Desperado", The Who's "Tommy" or Pink Floyd's "The…
I also am a fan of the old school IBM Model M keyboard. I loved the tactile feel and reassuring "click" sound.
Be aware that if you have already patched your windows [uxtheme.dll] file, then this program will refuse to work for managing themes. The "browse", and "Download" buttons are grayed out. If you want to use this to manage your themes, you will have to put back your original [uxtheme.dll] and then let this patch it…
After a quick look this looks pretty good, but I think I prefer Autoruns combined with Process Explorer. I can't find anything to complain about with this though, and it certainly is a nice "one stop shop" for startup / services / applications / processes etc... Even the free edition is pretty full featured.
I have to agree that signatures in emails (other than some simple contact info) are on balance more of a vanity thing than useful, and can get pretty annoying... (grin)
