It's up to you guys of course, but I would consider if you really want to run about:config and disable the version checking or run MR Tech.

By the way here is how to get Tab-Mix Plus working if you want:

I had no problem with any addons EXCEPT the "dev version 0.3.6.1.080416" of Tab-Mix Plus. It went dark. I am about to give up on Tab-Mix Plus anyway, as it has been in this semi-broken state for months. So all in all I didn't have any real problem.

I feel a "Hive Five" file manager shoot off in the works! ;-)

Whew... I couldn't click on "uninstall" fast enough. Aside from the clunkiness and ugliness, why not put a disk defragger or a registry cleaner or a word processor inside Firefox too? A solution without a problem here...

@Posco Grubb: I usually don't think of imaging software (like Acronis) as being the same as file backup, but it's tempting to try it out. Is the backup image updated incrementally? Does it handle system crash WHILE the image is being updated?

Clever site...

Ah... I gave this a run, and at least in Vista Ultimate, it seems to do exactly nothing.

It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish of course. If you want to just back up your "data" as in documents, music, pictures, ect. Then something like "Second Copy" or SyncBack is perfect.

I used to use Second Copy, and can recommend it for doing "data only" backups. I have come to rely on Acronis though, as it can do it all, and is very reliable. It has saved my butt on more than one occasion. It does full disk "images", which means you get the boot sector, MFT, all the super-secret hidden Windows
