You're correct, here's the basic hierarchy for those interested, in ascending order: RF>Composite>S-Video>Component>VGA>DVI>HDMI. Obviously there's more to it than that, but there's the rule of thumb.

The older you get, S-Video may be your best option, and if you have it on your TV, go for it as long as you don't have composite as an alternative.
