One of the big shifts on the show really is the humor. I don’t mind a humorous sci-fi show, or even a comedy, but all the jokes in the first season felt like they were added in after the fact. Like the actual episode was written then someone went back through to add the requisite number of jokes.

From a huge Yakuza fan, I think one of the best selling points of it is that Ichi is almost totally different than Kiryu. There's some similarities in their determination but personality wise they're very different. With the gameplay change, it feels so much like it's own thing.
