I always enjoy posts of your Z. I have a similar vintage (and a few replies to other posts of yours).

I wish I’d listened to my wife when she said “are you SURE you want to sign up to rebuild this car?” (when deciding to purchase an Alfa Romeo Milano that had been sitting in a cornfield for 13 years)

It’s very obvious on startup, especially if the car has been sitting a while. A second or so of a loud chain slapping noise.

Patently false. I live in Des Monies, my parents live in Cedar Rapids.

I hate seeing cars like this on Nice Price or Crack Pipe.

I’m not 100% on what exact year this make is. There has been at least one Benetton racer at the Road America vintage events for the last 3 years. Beautiful to shoot - faster than anything else in the field. Love these things.

I’m not sure what part of the country you live in, but this attitude is extremely prevalent here in the midwest. I’ve been on the receiving end of many snarky remarks about my s2000 and 300zx, both of which are bone stock. What I’ve gathered is this part of the country is firmly in the ‘Merica camp - anything else is

If you have a VW, as your avatar seems to indicate, and you do your own wrenching, you know some of these feels. Just reduce space by a factor of 2 or 3.

Did this exact same job last year (aside from the aftermarket bits). New-style fuel injectors and PCV valves. Might be the most tedious wrenching job I’ve ever done. Well worth it though! Nice Z! Glad to see more (mostly) stock ones out in the wild!

Nearing completion of my Alfa Romeo Milano complete mechanical restore.

I own an Alfa. It is the very definition of unreliable. This fact does not make me love it any less. In fact, I’d take it over any of my other cars (s2000, 300zx TT, A4) if forced to choose.

This kind of racing is my absolute favorite. Every year, this class (and many of the same cars) come to Road America for four days of glorious historic racing.

aaaaaand then you’d be liable for the repairs. Unfortunately, “it annoyed me” is not quite a defensible position. I 100% agree that this would annoy the hell out of me too, but I can’t reasonably expect things that I do to annoy other people to result in personal property damage under the pretext of “it annoyed me,

any s2000. Right in front of the shifter. Good luck changing gears with ANYTHING in there. Basically useless.

It certainly doesn’t help that Marshalltown is all of 25,000 people and there’s maybe three GT40's in the state. In Iowa, specifically, “collector car” is referring to a Mustang, Corvette, or Camaro about 90% of the time. Not sure who this guy thought he was kidding.

Old ones might, my GM era 9-3 had rear drums for ebrake

A few weekends late here, but Road America’s WeatherTech Challenge was great this year (as always). Full album on Flickr
