I’m in the Subaru WRX camp as well. Relatively easy and cheap to maintain. Barrier to entry is pretty high though, especially for clean, un-molested, low mile examples.
This kind of really scares the crap out of me. I do not want to loose my freedom to drive wherever I want, however I want.

How come manufactures haven’t release that diesel turbo P2 hybrid setup I’ve been asking for. Seriously, a 15 mile battery pack + cummins/dirty max/powerstroke should do just fine for someone needing to carry bails of hay around, or hop curbs in mall lots.
