Given that Congress has all but ceded the power to introduce legislation to party leaders, I’m not going to be upset if a caucus—which has no institutional power anyways—falls apart, even if its goals were vaguely for pro-climate action (the inclusion of Matt freakin’ Gaetz throws their credibility with me out the

This is some excellent comment-username synergy.

I’m also a bit salty at Bill Nelson essentially not taking the campaign seriously from the start. He’s never had great name recognition in the state, and I’m convinced his entire strategy was to ride an incumbency advantage and hope Gillum brought out enough of the party base (womp womp)...

Also on the ballot was an amendment (5) which hamstrings the state legislature into needing a supermajority to ever raise taxes...which passed with slightly more votes than 4...priorities!

I’m glad Dems will have a legitimate seat at the table regarding this and other issues rather than shouting into the void.

Eh, not really on the budget part...at least recently the Senate has tended to “moderate” the House’s appropriations towards what ultimately gets passed (and both have completely ignored Trump’s budgets). But it’s still a bigger seat at the table than we’ve had the last couple years.

I think you’re downplaying the difference between the utility of logs vs human products as dispersal vessels. For one, the latter type certainly doesn’t decompose at the same rate as the other. These invasions can happen years after the initial event, and so it appears the type of debris they found was durable enough

It’s actually neither...

For me, a win is if 4 passes and 5 doesn’t...honestly, if there is close to 60% support for everything else, the state legislature should step in and do it’s job. I personally don’t like offshore drilling or dog racing, but I also think there’s no reason the state constitution needs to have such specific issues

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but did Earther somewhat recently get “demoted” from stand-alone to directly under the Gizmodo banner? I noticed the URL changed, and I feel like that’s been followed by more cross-posting between here and Gizmodo and then an influx of trolls that are somehow ungreyed...

Now playing

As John Oliver said just last night, this administration reacts to getting caught doing racist shit by acting offended that anyone is suggesting they might be doing racist shit...

I think it’s because literally every person in power shown this season was bought off by the Shepherds, which have a grudge against Claire because she wont fall in line like Frank was supposedly going to.

Even more humorous is that apparently their decisions are decided by outputs from a “model”...they must have some pretty confident political scientists on their payroll!

Well I guess maybe there are some people who don’t understand what prepaid postage is...I’m sure “progressive-illiberal” supports free government-issued IDs too!

I understand, I was mocking the excuses that have been used for not voting...including one that was highlighted/basically encouraged by another GMG employee where a non-voter literally said: “Most people my age have zero need to go to the post office and may have never stepped into one before. Honestly, if someone had

Came here for a cake eater reference

While I very much wish our current Commander in Chief would disappear for a while, having the president pretend to be in a depressive episode for multiple weeks is one of the most ridiculous things this show has done...which is saying a lot.

For me it was whenever Tom Yates showed up.

Weird how a lot of Claire’s problems could be dealt with by hiring a Chief of Staff rather than relying on a VP who up until recently was helping the person running against you...
