Maybe its because the article was poorly copy and pasted from a Weather Channel article published last week.

My last car was my only long distance purchase. Found it at a Carmax in PA and had it shipped to my local Carmax in CT. I think it cost $200 to get it here. After it got delivered, I went and test drove it and bought it. I had been looking for a couple different options and colors for quite a few months and this one

Theoretically yes. But it does need to make it to the dealer under its own power. So it really depends on how totaled, totaled is.

It’s not so much being duped for me, cause I love the car and had planned on keeping it for a good number of years to come. Its simply the fact that after news of this ordeal broke, the value of the cars tanked significantly. I don’t want to hold onto something that in a short time is going to be essentially worthless.

You’ll be paying full taxes on your new car no matter what. The buyback is not the same as a trade in, so you selling the car back and purchasing a new one are viewed as two entirely separate transactions.

Look on tdiclub. There are quite a few people who have successfully done their buyback and received money already. I’m not one of the lucky ones, but I have purchased a replacement and my Jetta is just parked until its time for it to go back.

Everyone says, “whats the rush?” But being in this situation, if I total my car before it is bought back, I will get next to nothing from the insurance company based on its deteriorated value since this whole scandal broke. Hence why most people, including myself want to get out of this ordeal as soon as possible.

I already have my badge.
