I don’t think he believes this. He sort of apologized/tried to explain the tape away while conceding that he did say those things during the campaign last year. If it was fake, he would have said so then.

If by “coastal elites” you mean people with a sense that there’s such a thing as objective reality, then yes, he does rather stick it to them.
