I love the BBC series, actually. While some parts suffer from the constraints of the budget (notably the adorable Beast) that budget also meant they had to film in the actual tunnels below London. Which is pretty cool.

TV is clearly the better fit for Sandman, but at this point I kind of hope it just stays a comic book.

No idea. Though I suspect time and demographics will resolve Northern Ireland sooner or later.

I thought about that too, but Ireland and Britain are "British Isles," and I think you wouldn't (and probably shouldn't) call people from the Republic of Ireland "British."

For a little while longer anyway.

I don't think Jon Oliver would be interested in this sort of thing. Maybe when he was on the Daily Show. These days he seems to mostly go after systemic corruption.

"You merely adopted this moped, I was born in it"

Neil Gaiman described working with the established characters of the two big companies as akin to playing in a shared sandbox: you can pretty much do whatever you want but don't break the toys that other people might want to use.

Yeah, as a rule I try not to attack artists whose work I don't like, but fuck Nick Spencer.

Yeah, Marvel - pre-Secret Wars, I guess - used to do small really well. I read through most of the early appearances of Cloak and Dagger recently (because I'd always liked the characters & their look, but never really did a deep dive) and at one point a character is like "Wow! Spider-Man really is real!"

This was just dumb shit. I muted this dude the second time a retweet of it popped up.

Eh, I'm pretty sure their overwhelming reserves of institutional smugness will see them through.

It's like Lincoln said: "We're never going to survive, unless we get a little crazy."

Donald's not comfortable with the slightest challenge to his authority. Hiring that guy would mean he'd spend every day reminding people "Charles isn't in charge, Donald's in charge." And that would cut into valuable policy cable news & twitter time.

How did this guy manage to not be hired by the administration? Its not like he could be any worse than the media people they have now.

They have a whole host segment about the plague of those Sharknado-type movies. In episode 3, I think.

"We hate the new Chainsmokers album, and here's why you should, too"

Yeah, I hadn't heard of this book previously, but it sounds tailor made for me.
