For real though, that's kind of Erdogan's goal. Aside from his effort to undermine Kemalism and the government in general, look at him in photo-ops with Ottoman soldier cosplayers, or his attempts to "rebuild" a long-gone Ottoman military barracks in what is now one of the few greenspaces in central Istanbul.

Just like if you kill Santa Claus, you become Santa Claus, as was explained in the Tim Allen documentary: The Santa Clause

Okay that pointed me more or less in the right direction. Thanks.

Honest question: who is Not-Captain-America in the header picture?

Also movies have infinitely larger budgets to spend making them not look like dorks.

Yeah I was going to make fun of Not-Captain-America's costume in the picture above (I still might! Stay tuned to this comment thread to find out, True Believer!) but you're right, Marvel has never really figured out a Captain America costume that worked with the mask/helmet on.

It was indeed.

Did you ever find out her secret?

Is it possible to drown from a golden shower?

True, but without the phone for a context clue, that would be a picture of an air freshener.

Yeah, I didn't explain myself very well. The issue I was thinking about was that if they don't remove the 3D attachment from a projector, before showing 2D movies, the thing absorbs like half the light, and you end up with a dark shitty movie.

That's really funny, I've seen a ton of "If Microsoft made cars" jokes, and did not know they were in response to something Gates had actually said.

That's something I kind of miss about movie rental stores. Going somewhere and picking out a movie and bringing it home made what is essentially, watching TV at home feel a bit more like a legit activity.

As I understand it, that's usually a result of setting up the 3D projector attachment lazily.

Absolutely. Stadium Seating is nice, but aside from that, most of the innovations I can think of (not counting behind the scenes things like digital distribution) are somewhere between annoying (3D) and bad (breaking up old movie palace spaces into multiple smaller theaters).

It kind of already did: the Netflix-that-was became a victim of its own success. It showed people loved streaming, so every two-bit company with the rights to a half-dozen movies decided to start their own streaming subscription instead of licensing with him.
