I disagree. I would not recommend learning to fix cars on an 4.2L Audi A6 for example. This even for an otherwise experienced mechanic. That’s the fastest way to get someone to give up. Instead, a late 80s early 90s US car would be a much better first car to work on. Parts are still easy and cheap enough to find (in

A step-ladder?

Came here to post this.

Ooh, I posted this in Oppo just last night.. though I’m not sure that exactly counts as it may be a bit more of a Kit Car than a Car maker:

This reminds me of the Portland Airport carpet. (Left old, right new as of 2015)

This doesn’t really measure up to some of the posters here, but I did an engine swap on an 86 Fiero GT. It used to be a 2.8L until I broke the crankshaft in half. In hindsight I wish I had kept the pieces as a souvenir and taken more pictures. What went back in was a similar 60 degree V6 from a 94 Firebird, but a

Like a Blue Flag for the highway..

Yellow. Yea. I’m that guy.

I inadvertently installed #4, the Intermittent Headlights on my Audi when I attempted to install LED bulbs for the DRLs.

My pops got three different citations from the same even cop, at the same time - 1. Holding up traffic, 2. Speeding, 3. I forget.. Anyways, he’s a trucker and his turbo went out on an uphill stretch, so he had to crawl up the hill, and then trying to get out of the way of everybody, he was speeding. It’s just bizarre

This is the Cheap Car challenge I had been hoping Top Gear would have done! You just need to do it with 3 similar cars - maybe a Moskwitch and a Volga, with a Zaparozetz as the backup, lurking in the background.

I don’t think you’re allowed to make a V-TEC reference without adding “Yo” at the end, yo.

Rolling on a Dub Deuce..

Dubstep is also Electronic Dance Music. This is House, perhaps Electro House.

I for one approve of their choise of music, and I as well pre-date the millenial generation by a couple of decades.

Yea, but if you do check into a hotel, and they ask you what car you’re driving, you’re gonna have to either lie, or write down Pontiac Aztec..

Just got back from a 2500 mile road trip in one of these about a week ago. It was the perfect car for my scenario. Here’s why:

I’ve done a couple of ~2000 mile road trips in one of these. They’re great for that. The only complaint is the 16mpg fully laden that I got on average. That and they’re friggin huge, so it’s hard to squeeze into small parking spots in the city. They are pretty reliable though as well, and you can get them serviced at

Emerson Fittipaldi seems like a genuinely nice guy, plus I’m sure he has a lot of great stories from F1 and IndyCar in its hayday.
