I went dress shopping in NYC with a $1,000 budget. I had to call around and tell them my budget to plan, which ruled Kleinfeld’s right out (you don’t want to shop someplace where the only way you can get something within your budget is either a sample or on clearance), but was able to still visit at least 5-6 places

I assume you have very good reasons for sticking to jan 2016 date and are not engaged yet. And I’m guessing you can’t start shopping anyway since because you’re not engaged it sounds like the wedding might not happen?

Yes, and just because sleeveless dresses don’t normally work on you don’t rule them out since wedding gowns have a lot more structure and such to support such things.

Fine. You win.

Yes, agreed. Subgenre of reality TV. :)

FOREVER. lol j/k not sure but I think sous vide takes longer. It involves sealing the meat in plastic and boiling it, I believe. Or something like that, except way fancier. :P

I had to share your comment on Facebook. Simply amazing. I love coming up with modern Circles of Hell, LOL.

Based on the frequency of shootings we have in the US, I’d say we already have this law in effect.

It took me knowing my husband for 10+ years or so to figure out he didn’t like anything pickled (due to the vinegar, which he also doesn’t like).

Ohhh the irony is DELICIOUS... :D

I believe a pan would require a burner, not a flat top, and it’s likely that all available burners (if they had any in addition to the flat top) were occupied with other stations devoted to the dinner menu items. It’s not like they just have burners, pans, and pancake mix sitting around ready to go- everything is

Oh god I totally fanatsize about being present for one of these dumb/horrid customer situations and laying into them on behalf of the staff.

I was wondering if she’d figure it out with the first sample or not. LOL

If they say they can’t eat gluten and order bread or beer or something similar, have at it.

Ok now you’re just being pedantic. Saying one is allergic to red is obviously shorthand that customer uses to help them remember either no red dye or vegetables. Either way, it is indeed a real, existing allergy, and unless someone’s an allergist or nutritionist everyone needs to shut up when opining about whether a

...and then the rest of the article goes on to say that she did a new study that had totally the opposite results of her first study.

But I just read that article you linked to and it does indicate FODMAPs as perhaps being the culprit... which, is often also in the same products as gluten, like bread.

Yes, thank you! And the same applies to food allergies!

Oh really? Did not know that... the more you know. :)

It would be one thing to laugh at ourselves if the joke were true, but the whole “big tough mean New Yorker” stereotype is 3 decades+ out of date now. So it’s a pretty sad, old, untrue joke, which is why we’re not laughing at it anymore. It just demonstrates her complete ignorance of NYC and failure to pay attention
