Pedestrian safety laws in Europe are paying off.

must be a liberal
I am not even sure what it means, though.
Let Labor build something without Land or Capital (and the requisite risks that go with that ownership), then come back to me, Erik.
Jalopnik has never been viewpoint neutral, which is fine.
That’s why I come here less and less often. Too much editorializing, not enough fact based information presented. Some of the writers are much better about this than others.
Everyone at Gizmodo Media is now a union pundit. You just have to get used to it. Maybe someday they’ll go on strike and we’ll have to put up with replacement writers from Oppo for a while. Meanwhile, they’ll keep complaining that their office is too cold, do nothing about it, and continue to tell us how awesome…
Thank you. This isn’t the first time that Comrade Shilling has lobbed out the “labor deserves everything it creates” line.
1st Gear:
The strike pay increase is an escalation, one of the first of which we will probably be seeing much more of.
None of these crash test dummies are sitting like you are supposed to be in a Tesla.
I want a SIMPLIFIED option package. I would honestly pay extra to have a stripped down vehicle with vinyl flooring, no driving tech beyond basic cruise control, a simple AM/FM radio with CarPlay (and no manufacturer infotainment BS), power windows/locks and lose 500 lbs worth of crap I don’t need or use.
Cooled seats is the single most important feature. I would take cooled seats before power windows or locks or power steering. If back-up cameras are mandatory, so should be cooled seats.
I love the 5 digit keypad on Ford trucks. It's way better than a proximity key and solves lots of problems when traveling with multiple people or engaging in water-sports, mountain biking, any fun outdoor activity designed to kill electronic keys...
I wish cars actually came with some layer of fabric that prevented you from dropping things between the front seats and the console. I know aftermarket solutions exist, but I haven’t seen an automaker implement one. Maybe you have to spring for a Rolls-Royce or something...
Anti-tailgating built into autonomous braking systems.
Basic, not-integrated-into-everything stereo. Give it bluetooth, maybe a small screen for a backup camera but DON’T LET IT CONTROL THE FUCKING HVAC, DOOR LOCKS, LIGHTS, ETC.
Some manufacturers wont even let you start the car if it becomes defective or replaced. Even replaced with another OEM, sometimes it needs special…
You know what I want? A code error message. All cars now have some sort of LCD screen and could display the error code & readout, but instead they display a check engine light, and then you have to connect an OBDII reader, then search the internet for what it means.
I can tell you what I don’t want. Fucking infotainment. They all suck and will be outdated in a year. Car companies are not good at being tech companies and a car is too expensive to be disposable. If you aren’t going to subject me to an infotainment solution at least allow me to upgrade that part alone. CarPlay and…
