I will say, as a Brazilian, it was extremely wholesome to watch the Brazil subreddit team up with the Argentina subreddit to keep both flags up. Iirc, they even put a world cup trophy between both flags, as though sharing the trophy together.

They look close enough to me. The Mega Drive ones are accurate when you consider that they're presumably based in Brazil, and that's how the boxes looked there.
Me: “Ooh, let’s check out the comments section and see how long it took for the conversation to oscillate between vilifying and lionizing Musk... that didn’t take long!”
Honestly though, Polytopia is a fun little game. Grabbed me for a little while and I suspect it could, again, in short spurts here and there.
Absolutely love BoP. Been championing it for years, especially since it's hit Steam. Why? BC it's a very dumbed down, quick game of Civ. It has some depth, but yeah.
This was a fun little strategy game to play on my phone. Its a shame this is gonna make people equate it with him and therefore hate it unnecessarily.
It's pretty damn enjoyable. Definitely not very challenging though. Multiplayer is fun too
“The Battle of Polytopia is a civilization simulator in which you control one of twelve different “tribes.” You try to expand the territory of your empire by collecting resources, exploring uncharted territory, and destroying rival civilizations. In short, it’s the exact sort of game that might appeal to a white…
I think we’ve reached the point where the only thing worse then Elon Musk fanboys who will defend him for anything are Elon Musk critics who will take every opportunity to bash anything he mentions, including innocuous things like a charming little indie video game that first came out over six year ago for Android and…
I’ve been playing it throughout the pandemic and it is perfect for an early morning, mid-day, or just before bed distraction. Yes it is super simple and has a retro-block aesthetic, but it scratches an old school CIV itch in me just the right way for a mobile game that takes a few minutes to play (at most).
Why exactly are we trying to bring this around to apartheid?
I’m really not a Musk fan, and I get that this article is more of a takedown on inequality, globalism and/or late stage capitalism but Polytopia is pretty special.
I heard it was really good tho
You gotta consider how people are watching it. They’re watching very compressed, low res videos on their phones, probably not even full screen. And most people don’t know what actual fighter jet combat looks like (myself included).
When it was originally available at a higher resolution, it becomes pretty obvious in the second half of the clip that it’s a game, everything is just a little too ‘still’ for it to be real. At this blurrier resolution, yeah, it’s very hard to tell!
I legit thought that was real footage.
... you ever get the feeling that “below expectations” involves the same kind of magical math that makes the most successful films of all time never be profitable, except for the fact that all the suits get all the money from them?
I think you need to read up more on fake Destiny science lol.
It’s a paracausal entity. When it moves the fabric of reality is bent to prevent it from being observed.
Ninja cat disagrees
I never really thought of it as a function of vision but rather focused attention. I think, because that’s incredibly difficult to communicate on TV, it gets reduced down to “don’t blink”.
