Depending on the work you’re doing (which could even be grinding in another game!) I would argue the World of Warcraft soundtrack is the best. So many different tones and styles mixed in. 15 years of artfully composed music.

Have you played Golf Story? Very similar to the old GameBoy Mario Golf RPG style game
Currently straddling the last weeks of my stop-gap pandemic job before getting into my very exciting “return to normal” job in July, which has me looking forward and unable to really unplug and lose myself in a game right now. I had a full day off Friday with no errands, no repairs, no anything, and barely put a dent…
I’ve about run out my time with FIFA 21. The service game cycle has reached the point where everyone has the best of everything and games are determined by RNG bounces and how one deals with latency. There is definitely a skill ceiling, but any match that would or should be close rarely feels satisfying after its…
It is the best time to be addicted to opening loot boxes on FIFA 21 with Team of the Season releasing the best players in waves over the next two months. Fortunately, EA has gotten better at making some aspects of it grindable which keeps people in the menus gunning for these players and rewards folks who have played…
Make that day today. I’m playing it for the third time (and first on Switch) right now and every time I boot it up I remember why I’ve spent so much time in that world. The opening is slow, which is why I false started 3 or 4 times, but once I got some momentum that game dominated my life for a few weeks one summer.
More Diablo III. It’s been a YEAR over here, and nothing helps lock out the bad and disappointing like cleaving demons in this game. I’ve finally given the Necromancer its due and between blowing up corpses and then its META build, I am simply an avatar of destruction.
I always get the itch this time of year to run back Dragon Age Inquisition, but maybe this year I’ll actually go back and play Origins. I genuinely love the world of DA and can’t wait for DA4.
After the Chapter 1s you gain access to ways to change character jobs. I haven’t got far enough to find out if you could have a team full of Clerics, for instance, but know that you can swap jobs for characters. I’ve logged about 8 hours and have mostly stuck with the default settings. The combat is so fun,…
I simply cannot play a game without looking on reddit, reading articles, or generally taking part in the discourse. It has the unfortunate side effect of sapping a lot of the exploratory fun out of games in service of my need to be efficient. I wish I could go back and regain the feeling from my first Diablo 3 or…
I didn’t get into the alpha, but I’ll still be messing around in Tristram. I’ve been playing around the Necromancer class for the first time during Season 23 and blowing up corpses for insane map-clearing chain reactions is super satisfying. I finally tracked down the last piece of its “S-Tier” build, so the…
I loved Dishonored, I played it in like two sittings. Absolutely loved it. Something about II just hasn’t clicked for me. I may just start over and try from the beginning. I’ve also heard really good things about Death of the Outsider so I want to get through that as well.
For me its much more about being on the couch with my wife instead of in the back room on the XBOX. Thats why Switch and laptop compatible games tend to get done faster than my XB games.
I rarely buy a game and fail to get going on it, although Far Cry New Dawn is currently occupying that space on my XBox. My issue is I typically find it much easier to fit the chore-style gameplay of service games into my life. Madden/FIFA Ultimate Team, Diablo 3, and World of Warcraft have always been my go-tos for…
Came to the comments to defend Fable II’s honor. I liked Fable III, but from what i remember it wrapped a bit faster than I would have hoped. I’m no “see everything everywhere” RPG player, but I find that everything about 2 has aged much better in my mind. I’ve gone back to Fable II fairly recently as well, and while…
Thrilled that I just spent $50 on Octopath for Switch like 3 weeks ago. I’d definitely rather play on Switch than my XB or PC, but still rough to have that happen.
I took advantage of a particularly good sale to finally pick up Horizon Zero Dawn on PC, so I’ll be chipping away at that when I can sneak off to the back room. Since most of my gaming is while I’m on the couch in the living room, I’ll probably keep chipping away at Hades. I’m now 60 runs in with only one trip to face…
I have played all the way through HITMAN 2016 and HITMAN 3 and this likely convinced me to pony up for the HITMAN 2 levels in the newest game. Personally, I really enjoyed the Marrakesh and Colorado levels so was disappointed to see them so far down the list.
With our most vulnerable family members now completely vaccinated, we’re actually planning a small game night for Saturday. Board games and such, so that will be fun.
Most excited about the Diablo news. D3 got me through the first few months of the pandemic and every new bit of D4 news makes it sound like a game I could play for another 10 years.
