When Eliose or Penelope aren’t on the screen I tend to lose interest. I’m just here for them, their friendship, ect.

I wish they had brought in Annie Murphy for the scene. That would have been a cute little Easter Egg. 

Yeah his outbursts are so sudden and intense; they make every episode. This almost topped last week’s weirdness at the comedy class. 

100 percent about public proposals. With a fictional character it’s almost always a giant red flag. 

Yeah. They are pushing the Larry-Marian line for sure. I don’t know if it would work with the ethos of the creator (I never watched Abbey), but maybe Marian will marry cousin D but end up falling in love with Larry and having a scandalous affair, leaving Marian divorced but able to fall into Larry’s arms in the end.

Dear Duke! I just hope sweet Gladys doesn’t end up in a bad marriage like Consuelo Vanderbilt. True, given the era Marian could do worse. He (cousin D) seems like a decent enough guy, but I could see him also slowly crushing her spirit.

I liked Dashell up until he told Marion she wasn’t a ‘’real’’ teacher. Ouch. She’s going to get stuck in a loveless marriage, isn’t she?

I think the discussion here could also be used to create a fantastic alternative/left off list with a number of worthy additions. 

It’s a good list. I would have Parks and Rec and 30 Rock higher than Community and Arrested as their later seasons just weren’t as strong. Parks and Rec and 30 Rock were much more consistently solid.

Bill dying earlier in the show could have been an interesting development to work with. I am not sure how you could have done the show without Sookie as she seemed to be where all story lines ended up converging. 

Jeeze I must have overlooked that detail! I remember the teacher but not how young he was. That’s messed up and no wonder he is so messed up when it comes to women. 

Good points--the Lost Cause stuff does add an additional layer of tragic sadness. 

Ah bummer I was hoping for a deep dive. My wife and I watched this show back in the day and have done at least 2 re-watches since 2020. It’s a fun summer show because it is very over the top ridiculous. I guess that works since it’s going for that Southern gothic horror vibe.
