Rap uses cars a lot. Mainly to showcase how they own expensive toys and you’re some pleb. Panda features an X6 and the rapper (Desiigner) was even featured on BMW’s official site:
“What you think I rap for to push a fuckin Rav4?!”
Neither.
Rock.
All tall hatchbacks, like a bunch of ancient Crossovers.
And we think cars all look the same today
One of my all-time favorite vids, because the delightful weirdness that is Walken. Hell of a hoofer, but never accept a watch from him.
Me and someone on this site once wondered how to buy shorts against car values. This is a bubble. Don’t get me wrong.
I’m very excited for the day when our generation is spending six figures on, like, a “third off the line” Honda Prelude SH at auction.
No, but I’m getting a HUGE kick out of everyone who thinks we sold out that quickly.
Best & worst depending on whether you value fun or comfort more. Sometimes it gets stuck too!
I know I’ve said this before but you have been my favorite addition to the Jalopnik crew! I always thoroughly enjoy your articles and how meticulous you are with each and every process. Your work has been a joy to read and I seriously commend you on your abilities!! Also, thanks for keeping your cars clean. I’m not a…
Old Escorts are almost always the right idea.
The best hand-me-down car is no hand-me-down car. When I was 16 I scraped enough money together to buy my own first car and I learned a little bit out this experience. It’s called pride of ownership. Out of all of my high school friends, I was the only one who bought my car with my own money. All of my friends who got…
You’re tall. You need heated seats. You loathe SUVs but have a clear fondness for wagons. You’d like to at least have a shot at a manual transmission. You go for stuff that’s a bit off-center but not outrageous. All noble and good.
BJ has attempted Dakar a few times, first in Robby Gordon’s Hummer (twice iirc) then most recently in 2014 in a car built by Jefferies Racing.
Thanks, great guide. Winter tires are an absolute must. People who have never had them insist they arent necessary. DO NOT BELIEVE THESE PEOPLE. I’m partial to sottozeroes. I would argue tires are more important than whether your car is AWD or not. Posted this in the “cars in snow” thread but even with pure RWD and…
It’s not just Dakar vehicles, although they do seem more prone (which I’d guess has to do with the limited suspension travel)
I’m not positive but I believe 4wd Cars at Dakar are limited to 10” of travel. That’s not very much, especially if your accustomed to 34” in a Trophy Truck. By comparison a new Ford Raptor has 13” of travel. Bryce and Pete have been racing this car or one similar in other rallies though so it’s not like they were not…
