FYI, "whatever happened" is that IceFrog and Eul, two of the three developers of the original mod, were hired by Valve to work on DotA 2 (the third, Guinsoo, works for LoL, I believe).

Microsoft is getting a lot of flack about it because of the whole "cursing in Skype" shebang, but honestly, I agree with you here: I like the addition to the games, because it means developers are getting creative and using resources in new and less-than-expected fashions.

I dunno. If Steam Machines really take off, there's literally no reason to make consoles anymore.
