Again, spot-on, and that's probably why I never got into the Superman movies. I considered Thor as "out there" but it wasn't too over the top, and was a good movie. Spiderman is another series I'm not sold on, but that's more of the actors than the actual premise or plot.

I wouldn't go so far as to say Batman is a proven franchise. Yes, its existed for a while, and yes, there have been good movies, but its all oriented around the Nolan/Bale series. Take out either (or both) and you have a less compelling Batman. Same as if RDJ stops playing Iron Man, or whenever Hugh Jackman stops…
