whats funny is that i know for a fact that car spots on Speed, back in the day, had sponsored segments all the time and it didn't bother me at all.

Companies that do this are short sighted and only care about increasing first week/day sales. If people buy it and learn that they hate it, the marketing company doesn't care. It's up to the publishers to stop working with marketing companies that pull this stuff.
