Uplifting is a good word! It really was.

Holy shit! Your dog is amazing! Very impressive credentials.

Welcome to SNS!

I also have a trip planned with my dog! We’re part of a nice community that gets together about four times per year for conformation, lure coursing, and obstacle courses. My dog thrives at lure coursing but it’s only conformation at this next get together since it’s at an indoor facility. I’m not really a fan of “show

I recently moved to a new city and I’ve been spending most of my free time settling in to my apartment, shopping for stuff for the apartment, or watching TV on the couch with the dog. Going out just hasn’t been a priority. So I made the decision today that I would head to a local dive bar and have dinner there. I

I love Biden too. Shit, I almost named my dog Biden! But his constant “hinting” at running (or not!) is fucking it up for younger progressives who should run in 2020. He knows people love him and he is taking advantage of that love for a temporary ego boost.

Yup. You totally hit the nail on the head with nerds reveling in their power later on in life.

I have always appreciated when people own their shitty behavior, as long as they actually change it. It sounds like your partner is doing right by you and your son.

I used to work in a high school and I witnessed less tolerance of bullyish behavior. I’m 35 now, so when I was in high school it was just normal to be a dick.

Well, a part of me expected that when I saw him walking towards me. Total shock on my part.

I had a classmate in high school who would constantly say my name, followed by “slob my knob.” It happened in a few different classes and everyone just always giggled while I saw there feeling mortified. I knew my one teacher could hear him but would pretend that she didn’t, which felt like such a betrayal (as a woman

Yup. I live in Harlem and regularly receive postcards from them with “toxicity” and “personality” tests. It’s creepy AF and I worry that less informed people will totally fall for it and go.

Does anyone watch The Last Alaskans? It used to be on Animal Planet and now it’s on Discovery. It’s seriously one of the most beautiful shows I’ve ever seen and I wonder why it doesn’t get the viewership that it deserves. I don’t see any awards for docuseries for the Emmy’s. Have I missed it?

It really is. Outside of Hamilton and a few others, I find Broadway to be lacking in creativity with all of the movies/cartoons going to the stage (Little Mermaid, Aladdin, etc...). And most music today is garbage. I’m a biased 90s kid but DAMN, the 90s were a good time for music for so many different genres.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Others have been making me feel like I need to care for them in the moment I share the news, and I think a lot of it is people responding with an “Oh fuck. What if that happens to me?” and then the downward spiral happens.

All of this feels very similar to how I handled my leaving with colleagues and others in my professional network. I’m with you regarding burning bridges. I’m happy to hear that you felt right about not posting on social media. Thank you!

OMG The goodbyes! They are so painfully awkward! I specifically asked my boss NOT to do that for me because he’s done it for other staff members who were also interim or lost jobs due to funding. He’s totally respecting my wishes.

I’m so sorry about your cats.... :( Losing animals companions is super hard.

100%

I have felt this really stupid pressure to post on Facebook that I’m leaving NYC next month because that’s the unfortunate trend that social media has created for us. We feel this need to announce big changes in our lives. I have definitely noticed a lot of shock as I’ve told people this and I really hate being on the
