I was horrified by the clapping and chanting and then I had this moment of... “Well, shit. This is probably what my friends and I sounded like at camp. Lots of clapping and chanting there too. Just in the mountains with the smell of Deep Woods Off in the air.”

A lot of people tell me that I look like Tina Fey and I think it’s mainly because we are both white brunette women with brown eyes and glasses. So when she started playing the role of Sarah Palin on SNL, the comparisons turned from Tina Fey to Sarah Palin and I was having NONE OF THAT.

Accutane is a temporary treatment that last about 3-6 months (it was just a daily pill when I took it). It’s supposed to essentially “retrain” or control your oil glands and it’s a form of Vitamin A. The effects are typically lasting but it can vary for people.

Oh yeah. I get my wrinkle-free face at 35 from my parents. They’re in their 70s and just started to get some crows feet. Genetics are stronger than diet at times.

I was 15 and my mom was a pretty devout Catholic. BC just wasn’t an option at that point in my life. Although, I wish it had been!

My OBGYN also F’d up with me. I was 24 when the vaccine became available and she urged me to get it and assured me that my insurance would cover it. Then I got a bill for $300! Insurance refused to cover it. I had to pay $300 for my first two shots and then my last shot was finally covered... :(

Yeah... She sounded like someone who maybe shouldn’t be working in dermatology??? lol Also, her PA program failed her in terms of allowing her to have that mentality in the first place.

Wow... I’m glad you never returned!

Right??? She was a bit of a teary mess as she talked about it. There’s a chance something else caused that but she seemed pretty confident that Accutane was the cause. Yikes.

Yeah, I’ve wondered this about women who are trying to conceive and use BC to keep their skin clear. When my sister went off the pill to start a family, her skin flared up immediately. Here’s to hoping the options expand for women who are conceiving and nursing.

One girl I met at a party in high school was on Accutane as well and it caused color blindness for her. I felt very lucky with just my chapped lips!

I tried Differin in high school but it didn’t work for me. I’m curious about it now that I’m an adult, though... I didn’t realize it’s OTC. Duly noted!

I keep hearing about the various issues that dairy causes and I’m really stubborn and refuse to stop eating it because it’s delicious and it’s my favorite form of calcium.

Yaz and Yasmin (and any of the generic brands of those)!

Fruit! How fascinating. I wonder if my diet impacts my eczema. Hm...

lol I had to sign that release! I was originally told to go on the pill when they were discussing putting me on Accutane and then my mom was all “Absolutely not. My daughter and I have an agreement that she will tell me when she’s ready to have sex (if it’s before she’s 18) and then she’ll go on BC. She’s not sexually

I used to have pretty severe acne and I went on Accutane in high school to clear it up. I think there’s a more mellow version out there now because that stuff was scary in the side effects. My worst side effect was chapped lips so I was fine.

Agreed. I like Andy. I especially love his Instagram stories. “Oh, here’s my dog peeing on trash bags in the village at 2am.” He also gets cut-off on those stories, which is hilarious. It’s like he doesn’t realize that there’s a time limit but... he works in television! I think it’s endearing.

The trick is that Andy asks the rude questions on behalf of the viewers.
