That’s actually a rule of the English language as i learned it: “too” must be always at the end of a sentence, preceded by comma.

Iunderstand what you’re saying, but rest assured, it’s just masturbatory fantasy. Fantasies don’t correlate with real life behavior or personality, or we’d have to prosecute the whole BDSM community.

You are right. I had not cared to read the father’s letter because I believe that in principle it should not be taken into account. But after reading it, it’s pretty bad.

I think the only fair way to judge any human group is based on its worst elements.

100 years ago, this was a lot more common, and all over the world. Honor killings are a staple of any culture where “honor” plays a role at all, i.e. any militaristic culture, i.e. almost every culture in the late XIX-early XX.

Yeah, when you don’t know the specifics it’s usually wise to say “i don’t know the specifics” and not say anything else.

Yeah, you’re right. I was going simply from the idea of the Indoeuropean family, but since that time thousands of years ago, a lot of things happened to the varied groups that form the family.

In fact, aren’t Persians closer to Europeans than to Arabs?

That would be ideal, but what we consider normal behaviour is “Mind your own business, don’t get in trouble, keep your head down, and you’ll be ok. Probably.”

When the child can still be taught better, yes. But when the child is damaged beyond repair and cannot be made into a productive member of society any longer, the only option is defense.

You are correct, i hadn’t paid attention to the things the father said because i ignore, by default, what parents (and most of the times, friends) say, as they are unreliable and biased. After reading what he said, it’s pretty bad.

You’re totally right.

It’s simply failing to identify what rape is. Remember how a lot of people in anonymous polls self-report being rapists as long as it’s not called rape? Same thing here.

I could understand her if she was saying “i don’t believe this evidence, i don’t believe even what he said, i believe he was forced a confession/whatever”. But she acknowledges that the events happened, and the proceeds to deny it was rape.

I don’t think it’s fair including the father’s, because parents have an almost genetic obligation to defend their offspring, no matter what. I will never be able to blame a parent for defending their children, no matter how twisted human beings their children are.

Do I seem to be in the search of likes? I’m a dude posting on Jezebel, if I wanted likes I would be posting cat pics in facebook. As far as I am concerned, an argument is only “won” when you convince the other person you’re arguing with. I convinced you off nothing, and on the other hand you made some points I will

Yes, I know the difference, but even more in my favour. If a country where the legislation had changed into something more similar to what you’d like has made life for sex workers worse (increased trafficking, pushed out of the cities), I have problems understanding why would anyone defend that model.

Are we really going to get into the “rape/really really a rape” distinction?

You never considered that perhaps we should, maybe not forbid them, but at least greatly regulate those things?
