Republican isn’t a political party any more, it’s a cult, a social identity. Everyone at her church votes Republican to save the unborn. All her friends and family vote Republican. A corrupt, vile Republican is always preferable to the most saintly Democrat.

It breaks my heart when women talk about how they never came forward about the sex abuse they experienced as children/teenagers because they weren’t model citizens in life - as if those extremely fucked up experiences didn’t have any part in making a “normal” life more achievable for them. Modeling is a skill. It’s not just about being pretty. It’s also about knowing how to hold your body at flattering, interesting angles with regard to the light source while projecting a specific emotion (or neutrality).
