I had no idea what was going on with Superior Spiderman and came across the character in the Inhumanity collection. My first reaction was, “Oh, I guess there’s a new Spiderman behind the mask ‘cause that guy doesn’t seem a bit like Peter Parker.”

Thanks so much for this! I’ve been wanting to check out Discworld for a while but never got around to figuring out where to start.

Not in comics.

Thanks for that lead. I just dug up some relevant comments from him:

Anansi Boys is sort of a sequel. It’s in the same universe, at least.

All of the proposed warp drive engine ideas that I know of involve negative energy. That’s probably not coming to pass.

Anyone who finds the Daughter/Wife title trend interesting might want to check out this thoughtful discussion of the use of relationship and family words in titles, including some comments on the gender (dis)parity of it.

I guess it’s more an issue of a trite title giving a bad first impression.

Death World City is the capital of Death World and maybe a good title for the sequel.

There’s a bunch of fun titles just sitting in that cloud, to be read right off. Others have already picked up on a few like “Ghost War” (I would read that) but here’s a few more I liked.

I’ve noticed a lot of books titled “The Something’s Daughter” or “The Blank’s Wife,” and I don’t seem to be the only one picking up on this. Granted not short story and not genre, necessarily. I intend on doubling down on this trend with “The God-daughter’s Nephew’s Wife’s Luggage.” DM me and I’ll give you a mailing

What’s an anti-explosion?

The labels “matter” and “anti-matter” are definitely arbitrary. The point is that the two aren’t exactly opposite. If you switched all matter with anti-matter, there would be a discernibly different universe.

This is not proposing an actual mirror universe in the sense of some other place. This just describes a certain symmetry in the laws of physics.

We’re not talking about running the history of the universe backwards. We’re talking about how the laws of physics look the same with time running backwards or forwards. Think about a time lapse film of the solar system with the planets orbiting the sun. Now imagine running the film backwards. Its pretty much the same

What precisely is going on in quantum measurement? Particularly, is the Born rule (the probability interpretation) derivable from the other principles of quantum mechanics?

The MCU Hulk movie wasn't bad, but I'd rather see a solo movie about another hero that we haven't yet gotten one for. I honestly don't think the Hulk is a strong enough character to stand on his own (metaphorically speaking, obvs). Maybe Hulk comic fans can tell me why I'm wrong and what we should want to see in

Physics is easier than biology since the systems studied are simpler. There are far fewer "moving parts" and complications to an elementary particle than, say, a human brain. The theories are far more manageable and have more predictive power. Scientists certainly don't just make things up. At least no more than they

The thing is that physics is easier than biology in a sense. I would expect a theory of everything far before eradicating all diseases.

I was expecting Skye's mom to make an appearance. It seemed to me that slow-aging could translate or coincide with super healing, and she could have survived Whitehall's experiments. But I hadn't yet thought that would imply Whitehall might come back. It would make sense; I thought he went down too easy the first time
