This. Totalitarianism can come from all systems, it just needs the appropriate conditions to flourish. I don’t know if America will ever go full totalitarian, but we certainly seem to be headed that way when we have leaders that straight up lie in our faces about every petty little thing they possibly can in order to

Last I checked, racism was having a problem with people of other races. What I’m describing is having a problem with *myself*.

Ehhhhh, as a Maine native I take issue with calling the surrounding parts of New England more racist than Boston.

Oh god, Cel-Ray is one of two drinks I’ve purchased and then promptly spat out and dumped on the pavement. The other one being Vitarroz. Horrible, nasty, terrible garbage.

Hey now, #NotAllWhitePeople but yeah, probably all the Wypipo. I’ll blame those idiots right along with you.

Yet he does have a masterful ability to manipulate the press and his followers.

Except for the fact that the legal challenges to his removing those protections are still going through the courts, and his removal of them is currently on hold because of that. And it’s far from a given that his removal is going to hold up legally, so basically he’s offering up a completely token thing that might not

Nope, because Pelosi has already made offers of compromise before this even started. The Democrats were willing to give some additional funding for border security, but Trump wants (w)all or nothing.

That’s my point. I’ve figured for a couple weeks now that his only way out of this is to try and do it by executive order, which will be challenged in court, and has a pretty strong chance of being shot down. And with the pace of federal courts and appeals etc, we probably wouldn’t get a result for a year and a half

Don’t think of it as Pelosi trying to play for a short term win, she’s seriously thinking of the long game which is why Trump has no idea what he’s up against.

Owwwwww.

Trump is probably weighing whether or not to try and do it via executive order, because the timing would most likely put its legal challenges up for a final determination right around election time in 2020. And he probably knows he’d lose, and of course, he doesn’t want to look like a loser before the election.

The amount of hate spewed at Ocean’s 8 probably didn’t add up to one bad day like Leslie had to deal with. People grumbled but nobody dropped the N-bomb on Sandra Bullock and wished for her to be brutally murdered.

Also, the reason the original movie succeeded in being as timelessly funny as it was, is that the movie was written in a sadly passe style of comedy where the funny comes from the way characters handle things in a natural way that fits them as if it was totally normal. And the first thing the movie does to establish

For one thing, that’s the nature of reboots/reimaginings. They gave nice nods to the originals, but they’re not supposed to just copy them. Look at something like Battlestar Galactica for example. They changed a lot, and pissed off members of the original cast, but still showed a great deal of reverence for the

Yep, anger is what gets more people talking about something. I’m not going to argue that I think it was an objectively good movie, or that even I think it was a movie that succeeded beyond what I’d consider decent. But the particular volume of the haters on this one, and how they treated the cast, is especially awful.

See, now this is how I feel about the movie too. They really had a lot of ways they could have done a job that made more people happy, but they chose a different path. That’s a perfectly valid reason to dislike something, or feel less than fully positive about it.

If people got offended at the bit where they make fun of people joking about toxic masculinity, good. Fuck those people. Nobody reasonable has time for toxic assholes.

Nice try, but what I'm saying is to try things for yourself with an open mind. If you don't like it, okay. But know whether or not you're making the decision yourself or if someone's already told you how to feel, and you're just looking for that dopamine reaction of feeling like you agree with someone you like. His plan was, “I’m going to pull all this paranormal energy into my collector machine I designed using knowledge from book Erin and Abby wrote, become one with the ghosts I’ve collected and absorb their powers so I can become a god.”
