I have read this a half dozen times this morning.

I wouldn’t say Cameron missed it, I’d say he just didn’t want to tell that kind of story. Alien had one tone, Aliens had a different one in contrast to what we often expect of sequels today. It’s hard for me to think of many sequels that take the thematic style of the first film and then so cleanly flip it on its head

I think it’s actually a good idea, it’s a twist nobody expected that actually makes sense. It adds so many more questions and mysteries about the nature of who and what the Joker really is, and allows for a wider variety of stories.

Yes, and he’s also one of the better writers The Flash ever had. He should actually *write* for the movie instead of just watching someone else ruin it.

Nah, I don’t think the show is that far out of balance, really. They can just say that more time has passed than we thought, add 2-3 years to the timeline and maybe even do a skip of a couple years between seasons or a midseason and catch up just fine. They’re going to have to do it for practical reasons anyhow,

Also, Catwoman in Gotham is technically a cougar since she is older than him...

Wake me when DC actually picks some of the actual comic writers to work on one of these movies. They’ve got some of the best writers in the business over there, and you can’t tell me that there’s that much of a difference between writing for comics and writing for a movie. At the very least, they should have a comics

I think he’s doing a shockingly good take on the Joker, really. He’s lifting homages from all over the place, and has created something distinctive out of it. They haven’t gone out and said “This is the Joker” yet, but if they do I won’t be upset about it. The mystery of “Who is the Joker?” is something that the

I don’t imagine that 8 years of aging would really take these villains out of circulation, if we go by one of the canonical takes that Bruce started putting on the suit at 25 after spending years in training.

I think they’ve made some pretty good strides with Bruce in the last season of the show, he’s starting to get meatier storylines and material to work with and we’re getting some great insights into just how young Bruce ticks. You can see that willpower and decisiveness growing from episode to episode, and how few

And coming from reading the comics that had that storyline for the Joker, I have to say that it was one of the best, creepiest stories they ever told.

I’m a big fan of the comics, particularly the work done in the last 3-4 years on the main Batman and Detective titles, and I have to say this show is absolutely a great guilty pleasure. If you look at it from the perspective of it being “A version of Gotham/Batman/etc.” instead of *the* version, you’ll be just fine

Stay classy. You’re doing the Don’s work there.

I know, right? Those pesky, reliable liberal voters that’ve been there since the early 90's. We’re so awful.

Agreed. Lots of them, for a few months before the election and not just in the last few days. And we need to make sure that people know not to get too confident, and rally people in every district in every state. Show them that bending to the will of right wing extremists will cost them dearly.

I’m not saying it’s worth less than nothing, and you’re right, it’s a start. I just hope that the number of people who will be truly active afterward will be at least somewhat higher than the people who were already active beforehand. What bothers me is that there’s definitely a history of these protests being easily

When I see some actual progressive victories following these kind of protests, I’ll be wrong and happily so. Attacking me wins you nothing, and wins the right plenty, as they get to watch infighting and consider it a victory. I never said protests were bad, I never said all protesters weren’t trying, I just said

Then why are you responding to me?

I mean stay home from the protests if they won’t vote, but yes. It would be vastly preferred that they get out and vote.

And voting. Don’t forget voting.
