I’ve never read Albom—at least that I’m aware of—and I don’t think I ever will. I was a little too young for the Bad Boy Pistons so I don’t have a strong feeling one way or the other.

So he blatantly lies in his columns and shames a girl who’s been through a highly traumatic experience, but it’s cool b/c he defended a basketball team and wrote a book you enjoyed.
How old are you that you still believe right/wrong is determined, per se, by legality?
Trolling?
“But if the G8 came and shut everything down and impeded everyone’s lives and kept some tourists away because everything was closed... No protests would be had.”
Why does that matter? We’re talking about what’s in the best interest of the city.
San Francisco is famous for homosexuals, not anal rape.
You’re kidding, right?
I assumed it was obvious I was talking about long-term benefit vs. short-term benefit. I also acknowledged not all business were thriving:
The point is that any business that wasn’t thriving before the Super Bowl will not have its fortunes materially changed by the NFL coming to town for a couple weeks. Maybe they’ll see a nice, momentary spike, but San Francisco is not a struggling town that needs a boost by hosting a major event.
“Well, I think there is a large minority of law enforcement who are *not* decent people.”
Meh, I don’t believe there are lots of ex-cops doing serious, hard time. Based on this blurb I scanned, there’s only one other ex-cop in Oklahoma’s system and he’s not there for the serial rape of poor, minority women.
Uh...no.
Sure, but I know in Lin’s case, it’s in there b/c he’s a Bible-thumper.
How would this help him negotiate?
I don’t think you understand what “trolling” means.
Nah. Dude targeted and raped poor, black women precisely b/c he thought the judicial system wouldn’t take them seriously. That’s a heinous thing for anyone to do. It is exponentially more heinous when done by a man supposedly sworn to protect the most vulnerable.
Man, this went from “meh” in the beginning to “pretty damn funny” in the middle and was gonna end on an even higher note until that Bible-thumping bullshit.
I’ll give him credit, he’s trying.
“Maybe I’m mistaken; I just intended to question the flimsy “safety of the offender” excuse given by the authorities in question.”
