Watch what you say. I made the same comment after The Force Awakens first trailer. I was fighting casual Star Wars fans for weeks.

I’m dressing as Hank Scorpio this year and I guarantee very few of my friends will get it. I need better friends
Don’t really get all the complaints about Hollywood being “silent.” The dude has already been fired, there’s basically nothing to be accomplished by every star throwing in their two cents except to be accused of hypocrisy like a lot of people are doing in these comments to the people who have spoken up. Also,…
That printing scene is so great. Shows you how a good movie can create tension without having to use guns or threats of violence.
I think Hunt for Red October is also great.
God this looks so bad and generic. The only great adaptions of the Clancy novel/universe were the Ford ones (Sum of All Fears is pretty good too).
He had a courtroom movie, Find Me Guilty, where he also got solid reviews, but it flopped, so I guess he went all in on that action movie money.
He seemed to steer himself in that direction. His performance in Boiler Room was widely praised, for instance, so I don’t see why he couldn’t do something that didn’t hinge on his physicality.
You can thank China for that. They love the “extreme cartoon action” of XXX.
Chronicles of Riddick is by far may favorite cheesy movie. The lines are just so awesome.
I’ll stand by his Riddick films anyday though.
I’m 54 year old. Tom Petty and his music have been a constant in my life since I’m 13. I’ve worn out his records and seen him perform more times than I can count. He never quit. He has a new album and just finished a tour — he never became a “play the greatest hits at the county fair” guy.
Not likely. Cyborg will stick to Justice League films for now. Honestly, I think that’s for the best.
My problem with D.C. is that their characters are for the most part, good origin stories that don’t go anywhere else. Most of the good D.C. stories are self contained. So this for me is a good way for D.C. to go. I’ll have that Kingdom Come movie now please.
Had they:
unrelated - Chance the Rapper also sucks
I watched “Zodiac” and “Crazy Stupid Love” on the same day in that order. I remember every time Lynch was on screen with Steve Carell tensing up and worrying about just what kind of “crazy” they might mean.
Great interview I only wish you would have asked John about his incredible death scene in the otherwise forgettable Volcano. Dude jumps feet first into lava and then throws a guy like he’s the goddamn Ultimate Warrior while melting.
His comments on Fincher reminded me of how Nicholas Meyer, while making Wrath of Khan, would often intentionally make William Shatner do multiple takes so that he would get too tired to keep doing his “acting” voice and give the more subdued reading Meyer wanted.
In the pantheon of great but deeply underappreciated character actors, John Carroll Lynch surely ranks near the top. Few actors are able to make such memorable impressions with often only a handful of scenes.
