Looking back at Summer 2003, we had: T3, The Matrix Reloaded and Bad Boys II…no matter the quality of the film, I thought we were heading towards an R-Rated blockbuster renaissance.
I recall Entertainment Weekly doing an article on how the big tentpoles had R-ratings and what it might lead to in the future. Would

I'll add to the love of "Kiss of Death" and Caruso's performance.

I need to revisit that as well. It seems that everyone was down on it, due to it being so dark and not like the TV show.

I'm with you. When did it become the hip, new aged thing to do and dislike Gore Verbinski?

I'm a total Mann dork as well, and I was letdown by "Public Enemies" the first time I watched it.

The funny thing about "Bad Boys II" was that all my friends went to go see it, and they had never seen the first one. It's like that "Terminator 2" effect: seeing the sequel before the original.

I always found the Carrot Top vitriol to be bullshit. I've never had anything against the guy and in the shows I've watched on TV with him, he was funny. After listening to his interview on the Marc Maron podcast and watching his part in Jamie Kennedy's "Heckler", I liked him a lot more.

The worst commentary track was Kevin Costner's for "The Postman". Worst in that it was very sad for Kevin Costner. He tries so hard.
That movie really broke him and he kept asking the people in the booth for a sandwich.

The only thing I've ever heard about "An American Werewolf in London" audio commentary, is the moment when Griffin Dunne wonders why didn't John Landis use "Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon.

Anyone ever heard the "Jack-O" commentary track?

I was 14..and it was the summer before my freshman year of high school.

I gotta disagree with that. Nothing about "The Master of Disguise" was redeeming. Not even that turtle bit that was the selling point in every fucking TV spot/trailer.

I think "The Love Guru" is worse than "The Master of Disguise".
I know if that's an opinion I should be sharing.

This flopping as well as "The Lone Ranger", doesn't make me worried for Gore Verbinski. I hope he still decides to direct what he wants.

One of my favorite moments on WCW Monday Nitro involves a mention of Sisqo.

Very disappointing. I had high hopes for it. I rented the DVD from Blockbuster the day it was released and was just baffled by it.

You know Spielberg doesn't get enough credit for doing things like that. He lets someone keep true to their artistic vision, no matter what a bunch of execs say or do.

I'm in total agreement with you. Verbinski has one of strangest outputs of a film director I've ever seen. He went from "Mouse Hunt" to "The Mexican" to "The Ring" then to "Pirates of the Caribbean". He's ambitious and that's what allows him to push himself (allowable and standard- what you wrote).

I love "Mouse Hunt". I'll always be surprised at how well that movie did in theaters. The best movie never directed by the Coen Brothers.

"The Weather Man"…underrated. It came out and flopped unfortunately. I remember a reviewer stating how surprised they were that Paramount released it and didn't relegate it to it's indie division.
