No, I definitely remember the Nirvana opening gig as being a general "wtf". From my memory J Church were a well known band but didn't really inspire the same interest as Jawbreaker. I certainly feel they don't have nearly the same staying power in people's consciousness.
That had to be for a pretty short time, Even by the time 24 Hour Revenge Therapy came out Jawbreaker were way bigger than J-Church.
Those dudes' bands were way bigger than J Church ever was. That's probably the main reason.
