I have a mid-sized sedan, and my factory brake rotors are bigger than 15". Actually, I can’t run smaller than 18" wheels on my car because of that. Plus, they would look stupid. It looks perfect with the 19" & 20" factory options. 15" wheels are stupid on any car that didn’t come as a prize out of a cereal box.

iPhones have approximately a 15% market share worldwide, while Android has 80-ish%. Why should literally every other tech manufacturer in the world have to change to Apple’s standard? Plus it’s unclear whether Apple would license Lightning to other companies.
Usually that way standards work is that you don’t force anyone to buy or make only a certain product, you just specify how that product should be made to meet the standard, and let consumers choose from there.
The OBD diagnostic system in automobiles and even micro USB in phones were the direct result of regulations pushing industry to standardize and reduce waste.
