I actually have a 2013 ZL1 with a manual transmission, and I have no problems with the car being offered in Automatic. I haven't driven an automatic ZL1 ,but a friend of mine that races had access to one for a while and had nothing but high praises for it.

You are trying to nitpick my argument. Using your argument, users expect the Autopilot to take an initial input which is the input to enable the system. Likewise, the automatic transmission requires an initial input. Do you want to go forward (D), backwards (R), or Park?

That is the formal FAA definition. However, you have to design and market to the lowest common denominator, think of Jeep Grand Cherokee shifter knobs. If you pick a random person off the street and ask them what Autopilot in a car means to them they will most likely say that the car completely drives itself.
