To be clear, I think it's specifically the sexual assault in The Killing Joke that they're attempting to retcon. This is reading a lot into one panel and some coy statements from the creative team, but my guess is given the material, they had to be coy about it.

The Marvel Method

I think part of the attention (deserved) is the book's authentic portrayal of a gay man. It is a classic case of how getting a writer who actually shares a demographic quality with a character can improve the storytelling. There are no Very Special Issues. Midnighter has his life, and that's just a part of the book.

Tell your friends about this book.

Samnee rocks this book, and it's clear Waid is giving him a stronger voice in this series from the start. There wasn't a ton of substance to this first issue, and so it read very quickly. But Samnee draws a heck of a prolonged action sequence, which is essentially what the entirety of this issue was.

You pretty much read my pull list, so I'll just reply here. On Green Lantern, I want Venditti gone. I feel like Hal's voice has changed so much since coming under Venditti's pen, and he just doesn't feel as much like the character I enjoyed from Johns' admittedly seminal run.

I like this book. I do not think this book is a "hidden gem." I feel like this is not a contradictory statement. Aco's art is very kinetic, and Orlando writes a very good violent romp. That said, this is not an all-time run. It's a solid book.

Been a pleasure chatting with you. Godspeed and visit once in a while!

Seconding Revival.

For my money, this is the most consistently good show on the CW.

Not that I've seen. But you're right that they refuse to work with one another, and that the split does not appear terribly amicable.

Boy, cawmicks are weird.

Yeah… yeah… you're not wrong. And Batman shouts at people a lot. I've come to suspect he might be affected by some past trauma.

He does? Man, I know nothing about Marvel's long lost kid problem.

He died, but he got better. He then had superpowers, but he got better.

I didn't mind her character originally, and I even enjoyed her appearances in the first Eternal. I think her scenes were usually highlights in a pretty unfocused series. But this latest twist… eeeeeh… I'll see what they do with her afterwards, but it didn't thrill me. I didn't hate it, but it didn't thrill me… as I

I think people give Seeley a bad rap because King's the more prominent up-and-comer. I find that Seeley had a greater knack for natural dialogue early on, and apparently a lot of the weirder ideas and callbacks to Morrison-era stuff come from him, which has been fun. YMMV there of course. I definitely don't think

I have to disagree there a little bit. He shouted at her to stay away from him in her earliest appearances, and there was a long-standing mystery about her parentage and pseudo-orphaned status.

Yeah, War of Kings is a definite step down from the Annihilation series, but you're spot on with Guardian getting a nice showcase. I'm not sure what the issue was as time went on, whether they just ran out of ideas, editorial stepped in, or the Abnett and Lanning partnership was already starting to break up. It's
