I’m not sure I believe 650lbs difference - maybe between the heaviest 9000 and the lightest base Chroma, but comparably equipped cars? But for SURE, the one you want to crash is the Saab. Also, you could get the 9000 with a V6 (GM “Ellsemere Port” engine) as well. Actually, a v6 CDE would probably be the heaviest

I was telling a buddy about that the other day— Of the FOUR Type 4 cars— Thema, Croma, 164 and 9000, three of them weighed within a few kilograms of each other. HOWEVER, despite having only a 4-cylinder, the 9000 weighed 300 kilograms MORE than a 164, even though the 164 had a Busso V6 in it. I told him, even if he

But not the fastest - a Saab 9000 Aero will blow its doors off. Showing yet again the superiority of the turbo 4. ;-)

Seeing Jaguar’s traditional reliability problems dealing with electronics...I’m sure this will go pretty well...

Reno and Salt Lake both get snow.

I’m reading a lot of comments from people (who obviously don’t have kids) who are trying to sway the OP into a vehicle that doesn’t have a back seat, because “why do you need another car that can take car seats?”

As a father of two young boys (3 and 2 months) and in the same boat as the OP (but with half the budget

Why not a JCW?

Totally this. I have a 996 cabrio (I know) and my 2 kids were both in the back up until by oldest crossed 5'8" two years ago.

I respect the opinion and enjoy the suggestion but my wife has a (small) say in this. Thier is a corvair for sale near buy wit a corevette engine swap in it and my wife already said “isnt that the car that burns to the ground”. So thats gona be a hard no.

So Mike's budget is slightly negotiable, and this seller’s price is negotiable:

Came here for this. Had to go to the comments to find it. So disappointing.

Give it eight years and you can have the final word in Gallic avant-garde open air four seat motoring.

I’d advise 80,000 condoms.

Cross-cab for sure

991.1 Targa. Decent PDK examples can be found for around $80k. And there are LATCH anchors in the back seats, so it can technically fit 2 car seats.

I know it’s soooo cliché, but man oh man, a 993 C4S would be such a fantastic way to blow $80k.

Great irony of history that the new Euro-ish baby Caddy looks like an evolution of the SAAB 9-3 wagon from the rear.

Black plastic is fine. I’m not the sort to decry all back plastic exterior trim as terrible, because in many cases it serves an aesthetic function. In fact, most cars without it look fat, due to our high belt lines and side impact standards. something needs to be done to break up the visual mass. Monochromatic

The thing is though, they do not sporty to drive. They want the ilusion of sportiness and handling which is not the same.

And Cadillac’s engineers were apparently quite adamant about it being “fun to drive.”
