Would have been NP for me, if only it had the 5-speed stick rather than the 3-speed slushbox.

Sounds an awful lot like my tuned 2000 Saab Viggen convertible.

I guess the Germans won the war after all.

The obvious choice is the better GTI — the Mk1 Audi TT.

I picked up a 2001 with the 225 hp motor and 107kmi in January 2020, for $5500. Prices have crept up a little since then, but not much. The PPI, service history, and maintenance schedule suggested replacing the timing belt/tensioner/roller, resealing the oil pan,

The Audi TT Mk1.

Yeah, the buyer would want to replace the coil packs. But that plus plugs is a $250 investment.

Not worth it for the 180 hp fwd. 18 months ago, I paid $5500 for a 2001 with similar miles in superb condition, but with awd (not really quattro according to purists) and the 225 hp engine.

Tangent alert.

Too high an ask for an otherwise compelling car. If it had the Polestar upgrade (250 hp / 273 lb/ft; stock is 236 lb/ft, not 300), it might be more justifiable.

My first car was the ‘79 version, complete with wood trim. It got me through high school.

Missing your voice already. But happy that you’re leaving to focus on making your life what you want it to be. Good luck!

To be specific: a Sonett III.

Ironically, it would've been a much better sales pitch if the miscreant had gotten away.

Yes - and what was the wine? Google is not helping me identify a Hungarian wine with a car on the label and a screw-top finish.

Are you sure it’s for the whole series, not just 2000MY? I’ve seen them, even for this generation. (I assume that’s what you mean, because the next definitely was sold with a gorgeous six-speed spaceball shifter.)

And I’m guessing that one had a stick to boot.

Commitment.

I haven’t driven my 2000 Saab Viggen with the top up since April. And I would personally favor a law permitting citizen confiscation of convertibles being driven around on a 75-degree day with the top up.

Basically, the league had to choose whether to investigate while the case proceeds and be castigated for reaching conclusions without the benefit of the evidentiary record, or to wait and be castigated for not taking this seriously.

The EB convertible weighs the same as a GT coupe. And of course, it slides that weight backwards.
