The director's cut of Mimic, I've heard, is much better.
But yeah, Cronos is a much more gothic, romantic, personal and unnerving movie overall. Mimic was just shlocky monster fare (ala Blade II), which I do like- but there's no denying that his movies like Cronos are vastly superior.

Fair enough. I think I'd say campy instead of cheesy. I feel like 'campy' is intentional, whereas 'cheesy' is a fault. I bought the box set the other day and am pleased with it, but even I agree with this. It honestly just came down to pricing for me. The box art was cheaper, and it looks sexy on a shelf.
