My mom leased a Maxx back in the day, I liked that car a lot. Heated seats, remote start and enough power for me to have some fun hooning it the best I could as a new driver.

I love my old Dodge 2500 for the same reason, just slide right under it to change the oil. I will say, a dealer oil change for $65 doesn’t sound bad at all. If the dealer we use was closer (30 minute trip) and priced as reasonably, I’d consider it.

Can you tell what kind of filter they include in the kit? Or is it just stamped “MINI.”? I buy the filters in bulk online, MANN is the OEM for pretty much every German car company so I stick with them, good luck on my GTI, E34 and the MINI. The filters come with the o-ring for the MINI, and I bought a big pack of

My 2009 GTI had a standard spin on filter up top instead of a cartridge type like your Saab, but same principal. Made filter changes painless, except for the heat retained by the metal casing of the spin-on filter. Nothing a pair of gloves wouldn’t handle though.

E34 530i is the same, right on top, very easy.

If it’s just hard to pull right now, spray some lubricant all over those hood latch assemblies. That could be causing the resistance. I used WD-40 because it’s what I had on hand, white lithium grease will probably last longer in that location. If you can get in there and get a good look at it, you’ll see a good bit

Ahh ok, mine was obviously just a reference to normal repairs. Never did much body work on my VW, but the E34 I have now is relatively easy except for the clips falling off door panels. Done two window regulators/motors in the past year, and had to glue a handful of those clips back on both times. Then again, what do

That coolant reservoir isn’t terrible, it’s just annoying as all hell. Mrs. Dirte’ has a 2007 Cooper S. The type of filter, cartridge instead of spin-on, isn’t all that rare anymore. My sister’s Corolla has that type, same with my E34 530i. But you are definitely right, the location would throw off anyone who doesn’t

Ohh man I felt exactly the same way. So many people are quick to sue instead of just taking their lumps for their own fuckups.

Funny, my local German mechanic says the opposite. Loves working on VW/Audi, does not like working on BMW. I guess it’s all what you’re used to.

I knew it! I’m surrounded by assholes!

Makes complete sense that underhood would be the driest place in a soft top jeep.

Same here with my E34, the fan only runs in stop/go traffic or slow speeds in the summer. I installed it during the winter, drove it around, idled in the driveway and the bastard never came on. Eventually I grabbed my mini butane torch, put some heat on the port the sensor threaded into (copper thankfully) and it

CD changer under the hood huh? Guess the temps were never a problem.

I’m a fan of plasti-dip. If you take the time to give it a few light coats, it comes out well. Dipped the front and rear emblems on my VW when I had it, thought it came out well. Actually see it a lot on VW’s now. (Don’t care about the license plate in the pic, sold the car last year)

My 1997 S10 SS came with one installed by the previous owner. At least he was smart enough to tell me “Hey, it just looks cool, if you want a useful gauge just get a wide-band one.”

Haha, I can understand a manual switch if you just didn’t want to deal with the thermostat control.

Hey man, no shame in Mariah, she’s my girl. Mrs. Dirte’ makes fun of me mercilessly for it, but I don’t care.

What’s the second ammo can for, the one on the left without any PVC piping connected?

Looks like copper tubing instead of evap hose.
